PABC is the NEXRAD weather radar for Bethel, Alaska. The antenna stands about 6.5 km west of the town, in the Bethel Census Area.
It is a WSR-88D. The NEXRAD Radar Operations Center lists it as Bethel FAA, one of the 12 radars in its Federal Aviation Administration group, and names the National Weather Service forecast office in Anchorage as the responsible office. The Anchorage office links to the Bethel radar beside the other Alaska radars it uses: Biorka Island, Kenai, King Salmon, Middleton Island, Nome and Pedro Dome.
NCEI files the station as Bethel FAA. The other places of any size nearby are Kwethluk and Akiachak to the east and northeast, and Nunapitchuk and Kasigluk to the west, all within about 37 km of the antenna.
Radar shows rain, snow and hail, not cloud, and nothing below its lowest beam; far from the antenna the beam passes high above the ground.
