KTFX is the NEXRAD WSR-88D weather radar for Great Falls, Montana. The antenna stands in Cascade County about 8 km southwest of the centre of Great Falls. The National Weather Service operates it; the Radar Operations Center lists the Great Falls forecast office, at 5324 Tri-Hill Frontage Road, as the responsible office.
The Radar Operations Center gives a commissioning date of 26 April 1995 and a tower height of 15 m. NCEI's archive of the radar's data begins in January 1995. NWS Missoula names KTFX as one of the radars adjacent to its own KMSX radar. Black Eagle, Malmstrom Air Force Base, Sun Prairie and Ulm are the nearest places, with Helena about 108 km to the south.
Radar shows rain, snow and hail, not cloud, and nothing below its lowest beam; far from the antenna the beam passes high above the ground.
