KSFX is the NEXRAD WSR-88D weather radar for Pocatello, Idaho. The antenna does not stand in the city: the NWS lists the radar's location as Springfield, in Bingham County, and NCEI records Springfield as an alias for the station. Pocatello is about 33 km to the southeast, Aberdeen 22 km to the southwest, Blackfoot 29 km to the east and Idaho Falls 66 km to the northeast. NCEI gives the antenna elevation as 4,539 feet (1,383 m).
The radar is owned and operated by the National Weather Service; the Pocatello forecast office, at the Pocatello airport, is responsible for it. NCEI's data record for the site begins in February 1996.
Radar shows rain, snow and hail, not cloud, and nothing below its lowest beam; far from the antenna the beam passes high above the ground.
