KJGX is the Robins AFB WSR-88D radar, a Department of Defense site in central Georgia. The antenna stands in Twiggs County beside Jeffersonville, the county seat, about 23 km east-northeast of Robins Air Force Base and 32 km southeast of Macon. Robins Air Force Base lies in Houston County just east of Warner Robins, about 18 miles south-southeast of Macon.
The NWS Radar Operations Center lists KJGX among the DoD radars and the NWS radar list gives the owner as the Department of Defense. NCEI records the site as Robins AFB with Jeffersonville as its alias. The responsible forecast office is NWS Peachtree City, the Atlanta office, which calls it the Warner Robins AFB radar near Macon. In 2020 the office announced the radar would be down for several days for generator upgrades, the fifth major project of the NEXRAD Service Life Extension Program.
NCEI's archive of the radar's Level II data begins on 16 August 1994.
Radar shows rain, snow and hail, not cloud, and nothing below its lowest beam; far from the antenna the beam passes high above the ground.
