KFFC is the Atlanta WSR-88D radar of the National Weather Service. The antenna stands at Peachtree City in Fayette County, Georgia, about 46 km south-southwest of Atlanta. Peachtree City is the largest city in Fayette County, in the southern part of the Atlanta metropolitan area.
The NWS Radar Operations Center lists the site as Atlanta, and NCEI records it as Atlanta with Peachtree City as its alias. It belongs to the NWS Peachtree City forecast office, which sits near Falcon Field some 25 miles south-southwest of downtown Atlanta and serves as the Atlanta office. The same office is responsible for the Robins AFB radar, KJGX, near Macon, and its pages offer both as local radars.
NCEI's archive of the radar's Level II data begins on 9 November 1994.
Radar shows rain, snow and hail, not cloud, and nothing below its lowest beam; far from the antenna the beam passes high above the ground.
