KEOX is the NEXRAD WSR-88D weather radar named for Fort Rucker, the United States Army aviation post in Dale County in southeast Alabama. It is one of the Department of Defense radars in the network. The National Weather Service office in Tallahassee, Florida controls it alongside its own Tallahassee radar, and its forecasters use it together with the Eglin and Moody radars. The antenna stands in Dale County, east of Ozark and north-northwest of Dothan; the NWS Birmingham office lists the site as Echo, Alabama.
The post was renamed Fort Novosel in April 2023, and the Radar Operations Center noted that the radar site would take the new name; the Army restored the Rucker name in June 2025, and the NWS radar list names the site Ft Rucker. NCEI's archive of the radar's data begins in March 1996. Dothan, Ozark, Enterprise and Headland are among the nearby places.
Radar shows rain, snow and hail, not cloud, and nothing below its lowest beam; far from the antenna the beam passes high above the ground.
