PHMO is the Molokai WSR-88D radar, the NEXRAD radar on the island of Molokai in Maui County, Hawaii. It stands in the western part of the island, about 12 km from Hoolehua and 17 km west-northwest of Kaunakakai. Honolulu lies about 73 km to the west and Kahului on Maui about 78 km to the east-southeast.
The NWS Honolulu forecast office calls it the Molokai radar (PHMO/HMO). The NWS Radar Operations Center lists it as Molokai FAA among the FAA radars, and the NWS radar list gives the owner as the Federal Aviation Administration. It is one of four WSR-88D radars in the state of Hawaii, one each on Kauai and Molokai and two on the Big Island, which give the Honolulu office reflectivity and velocity data about storms affecting the area.
NCEI's archive of the radar's Level II data begins on 5 April 1996.
Radar shows rain, snow and hail, not cloud, and nothing below its lowest beam; far from the antenna the beam passes high above the ground.
