KGSP is the Greer, South Carolina WSR-88D weather radar, in Spartanburg County between Greenville and Spartanburg. Greer is about 6 km to the north, Greenville 16 km to the west and Spartanburg 27 km to the east. The National Weather Service owns and operates it, and the Greenville-Spartanburg forecast office, at GSP International Airport in Greer, is responsible for it.
The radar has been through the NEXRAD Service Life Extension Program; the NWS Columbia office's 2023 upgrade notice links a time lapse of the pedestal replacement carried out earlier at Greenville-Spartanburg. In February 2025 a major mechanical failure took KGSP down for at least a week, and the office listed the Charlotte terminal radar and the Columbia, Morristown, Blacksburg, Peachtree City and Raleigh radars as alternatives.
Radar shows rain, snow and hail, not cloud, and nothing below its lowest beam; far from the antenna the beam passes high above the ground.
