KEAX is the NEXRAD WSR-88D weather radar for Kansas City. The antenna stands at Pleasant Hill in Cass County, Missouri, about 42 km southeast of downtown Kansas City and 2.6 km from the centre of Pleasant Hill. The National Weather Service operates it; the Radar Operations Center lists the Kansas City/Pleasant Hill forecast office, at 1803 North 7 Highway in Pleasant Hill, as the responsible office. The NWS names the station Pleasant Hill in its network database and Kansas City in its WSR-88D radar list.

The forecast office at Pleasant Hill began to spin up in 1993, took on forecast and warning responsibility in 1994 and became a full office in 1996, when the remaining functions of the Kansas City International Airport office transferred to it and that office's WSR-57 radar was decommissioned. The Radar Operations Center gives a commissioning date of 28 February 1995 and a tower height of 25 m. NCEI's archive of the radar's data begins in April 1994. The office shares its building with the Missouri Basin River Forecast Center.

Radar shows rain, snow and hail, not cloud, and nothing below its lowest beam; far from the antenna the beam passes high above the ground.
