KDVN is the NEXRAD WSR-88D weather radar for the Quad Cities, the cluster of Davenport and Bettendorf in Iowa and Rock Island, Moline and East Moline in Illinois on both sides of the Mississippi River. The antenna stands on the north side of Davenport in Scott County, about 10 km from downtown and 5 km from Eldridge; NCEI lists the site as Davenport.
The radar is owned and operated by the National Weather Service, whose Quad Cities office is at the Davenport Municipal Airport just north of Interstate 80. The office's history says the new NWS building at the Davenport airport was accepted in August 1994, the WSR-88D dome was raised onto its tower on November 2, 1994, the system was accepted on January 13, 1995 and commissioned as the official NWS radar on September 7, 1995. The old WSR-74C radar at the former Moline office was decommissioned on February 7, 1996. The office moved into a new building on the airport in June 2017.
Radar shows rain, snow and hail, not cloud, and nothing below its lowest beam; far from the antenna the beam passes high above the ground.
