KDLH is the NEXRAD WSR-88D weather radar for Duluth, Minnesota. It stands in St. Louis County about 10 km north-west of the city centre and 4 km from Hermantown, and the National Weather Service runs it from its Duluth forecast office at 5027 Miller Trunk Highway. Superior, Wisconsin, is about 15 km to the south-south-east.
The NWS Radar Operations Center names both the station and the radar site Duluth. The office's own history says its first weather radar was installed in 1977 and a Doppler radar in 1996, the year the office moved to Miller Trunk Highway. The office describes its area as all of north-eastern Minnesota, part of north-western Wisconsin and western Lake Superior.
NCEI's station inventory lists the site with WBAN number 14913 and dates its record from May 1996; Wikipedia's list of NEXRAD sites gives a data start of October 1995.
Radar shows rain, snow and hail, not cloud, and nothing below its lowest beam; far from the antenna the beam passes high above the ground.
