KPDT is a NEXRAD WSR-88D weather radar at Pendleton in Umatilla County, northeastern Oregon, about 5 km from the city. The National Weather Service lists it as Pendleton and runs it from the Pendleton forecast office, which sits on the western part of the Eastern Oregon Regional Airport complex about 3.5 miles west of the city center; the office moved there in May 1995. Kennewick, Pasco, Richland and Walla Walla, across the state line in Washington, are the largest places nearby.
The Radar Operations Center added KPDT to its base tilt field test sites in November 2023, and in February 2024 the radar officially became a low angle elevation site, with its lowest scan at 0.2 degrees above the horizontal. Wikipedia's list of NEXRAD sites gives April 1996 as the start of its data record.
Radar shows rain, snow and hail, not cloud, and nothing below its lowest beam; far from the antenna the beam passes high above the ground.
