KFSX is the National Weather Service's NEXRAD weather radar for Flagstaff. The antenna stands in southern Coconino County, Arizona, about 81 km south-east of Flagstaff and 40 km north-north-east of Payson; Pine and Strawberry are about 32 km away. The NWS lists the antenna at 7,514 ft above sea level. The NWS Flagstaff forecast office is responsible for it.
The radar is a WSR-88D owned by the NWS. NCEI's archive of its data begins in January 1996, when Wikipedia says it was commissioned. Forecasters at the Flagstaff office have used it to document the Mogollon Rim Convergence Zone, a terrain-driven line in the lee of the Rim where thunderstorms often form in late spring and summer.
Radar shows rain, snow and hail, not cloud, and nothing below its lowest beam; far from the antenna the beam passes high above the ground.
