KCCX is a NEXRAD WSR-88D weather radar on Rattlesnake Mountain in Black Moshannon State Forest in Centre County, Pennsylvania, northwest of State College and about 18 km east of Philipsburg. The National Weather Service lists it as State College and runs it from the State College forecast office. That office opened in May 1993, installed the radar in October 1993, and moved to Innovation Park in December 2005; it serves 33 counties in central Pennsylvania. NCEI gives the antenna elevation as 2,486 ft including the tower.
Wikipedia's list of NEXRAD sites gives January 1995 as the start of its data record, later than the office's October 1993 installation date.
Radar shows rain, snow and hail, not cloud, and nothing below its lowest beam; far from the antenna the beam passes high above the ground.
